Why West Ryde Drivers Are Choosing Ceramic Coating Over Everything Else

Sydney's roads are hard on paint. Tree sap in Hunters Hill, bird droppings along the Lane Cove corridor, industrial fallout near Macquarie Park, and UV hammering every clear coat from Epping to Chatswood. A standard wax lasts weeks. A ceramic coating lasts years. That is not a small difference.

A professionally applied ceramic coating forms a semi-permanent bond with your clear coat. Water beads and runs off. Contaminants sit on the surface instead of eating into the paint. Wash days take half the time. Your car looks sharper for longer, and when it comes time to sell, a well-maintained coated vehicle holds its value better than one that has been left unprotected.

At the CBS Automotive Detailing workshop in West Ryde, every coating job is done under controlled lighting, in a weather-protected environment, using proper panel preparation equipment. That controlled process is what determines whether a ceramic coating bonds correctly and lasts as long as it should. There are no shortcuts when the work is done properly.

The Ceramic Coating Process

1

Book and Drop Off

Request a free quote, confirm your package, and book your drop-off time at the CBS Automotive Detailing workshop at 1 Mulvihill St, West Ryde. Drop your vehicle at the agreed time and our team handles everything from there.

5 mins at drop-off
2

Wash and Decontamination

Your vehicle goes through a thorough hand wash followed by a two-stage decontamination process including clay bar treatment and iron fallout removal. This strips the surface of every contaminant that would otherwise prevent the coating from bonding correctly.

1 to 2 hours
3

Paint Correction (where needed)

If your paint has swirl marks, light scratches or oxidation, we machine polish it before any coating is applied — a ceramic coating locks in the condition of the paint underneath, so correcting it first is not optional if you want the best result. Any correction work is quoted and agreed with you before we start.

2 to 8 hours depending on paint condition
4

Ceramic Coating Application

The ceramic coating is applied panel by panel inside our workshop, under controlled lighting that lets our installers see every section clearly. Each layer is worked in properly, buffed, and checked before the next is applied. This is not a process that can be rushed.

2 to 4 hours
5

Controlled Cure and Inspection

Once applied, your vehicle stays in the workshop to cure in a dust-free, weather-protected environment. Our team conducts a full post-application inspection under workshop lighting to confirm even coverage and correct bonding across every panel.

12 to 24 hours cure time
6

Collection and Handover

We contact you when your vehicle is ready. At collection, we walk you through the result, explain how to care for your coating in the first few weeks, and hand over any documentation included in your package. Your car leaves the workshop protected and ready.

Ceramic Coating FAQ

In plain terms: it protects your paint from UV so it doesn't fade, makes washing the car noticeably easier, adds gloss and depth to the finish, helps resist damage from bird droppings, and reduces water spotting. It's a hard, semi-permanent layer bonded to your clear coat — not a wax that washes off after a few weeks.
It depends on your vehicle's size and the condition of the paint — preparation is most of the work in a proper coating job. Request a free quote and we will give you a clear figure before any work begins.
Most ceramic coating jobs require your vehicle to be at the workshop for one to three days. The application itself takes several hours, but the coating needs time to cure properly in our controlled workshop environment before the vehicle is ready for collection. We will give you a specific timeframe when you book.
A professionally applied ceramic coating typically lasts between two and five years depending on the product used, the number of layers applied, and how well the vehicle is maintained after application.
A ceramic coated vehicle is easier to maintain than an uncoated one, but it still needs regular washing. We recommend a pH-neutral hand wash every two to four weeks and avoiding automatic brushless or brush car washes. We provide a full maintenance guide at vehicle collection so you know exactly how to look after it.
We stand behind every coating applied at our workshop and walk you through aftercare at handover. Coating lifespan depends heavily on how the car is washed and maintained, which is why we provide clear aftercare instructions with every job rather than a formal manufacturer-backed warranty.
Regular wax sits on top of the paint and wears off within weeks. Ceramic coating chemically bonds to the clear coat and lasts years. Paint protection film physically absorbs impacts and is better suited to high-chip areas like the front bumper and bonnet edge, whereas ceramic coating covers the full vehicle and is more cost-effective as a whole-car solution. They can also be used together, with PPF on the front and ceramic coating over the top.
All ceramic coating work is completed at our workshop at 1 Mulvihill St, West Ryde NSW 2114. Customers drop their vehicle at the workshop at the booked time, and we contact them when it is ready for collection. We do not offer mobile or on-site ceramic coating services. The workshop environment is what allows us to apply coatings correctly.
Yes, in most cases. Ceramic coating protects the existing paint regardless of the vehicle's age and makes ongoing maintenance significantly easier. For older cars, we may recommend paint correction before coating to restore the clarity of the paint first. We will assess your vehicle's condition and give you an honest recommendation when you enquire.
